Overview:

In this Photoshop challenge, we will be supplying you with the PE-STARTIMAGE6.PSD image which has 2 images inside the Photoshop file. Please scroll to the bottom of the post and Left click the “Click Picture To Download Supporting Files” to download the image. This challenge covers tutorials 1-44. Your goal is to merge these 2 photos together to make it look like the final image.

Remember, these challenges are not works of art and they are created only to help you use the information you have learned in prior courses.

If you are stumped, scroll down to the Challenge Area, Hints, or Answer section. You will first find some hints to help you complete certain areas of the project. If you still can’t figure out how to restore certain areas of the image, feel free to watch the answer video (either watch it online or download the file).

Challenge Completion Time:

Successfully completing this challenge will take 15 minutes or 25 minutes if you want to take the time and be careful and make it look better. To make it look perfect it could take up to 40 minutes.

Challenge Details:

	1). Do not resize the Disney character!
	2). Take note of the shade, brightness, etc. of the character in the final image.
	3). Even though you can cutout the character a few different ways, we would like you to extract the character.

That is all the information you need to complete for this challenge. Remember your final image does NOT need to look exactly like ours, but it should be very close to be considered a success. Your goal is to determine the steps on how we made the final image and begin using the Photoshop tools.

HINTS/ANSWERS ALERT

Please do NOT proceed with this document, unless you would like to find out the answer. We have broken this section up into 3 different areas (Challenge Areas, Hints/Answers, Answer Video).

Challenge Area:

	1). We already told you that we want you to extract the image. Remember the tutorial that we just finished that explains how to remove a background?
	2). Notice how the image of the character appears to be much lighter? There are many ways to solve this problem, so this should not be a problem once you have extracted it out.
	3). We told you that we do not want you to resize the Disney character, so how did we fill in the areas of the crane?
	4). Once you figure out the above way we removed the crane, how do you make it blend so it does not look fake?

Hints/Answers:

Ok, we guess the challenge area above did not help you, so let’s show you some important areas of the challenge.

	1). So how did we get rid of the crane? Check out the Cloning the Red Eye tutorial.
	2). Once it was cloned, the sky looked fake, so we used the Healing Brush which is explained in the Heal Problems with the Patch Tool course.
	3). Even after the extraction, we did minor adjustments with a Layer Mask. Here are the tutorials that talk about the Layer Masking process. Masking And Transform Information or More Masks Please.
	4). You will notice the brightness is primarily off for the Disney character. The easiest way to fix this is with the Brightness/Contrast Adjustment. Check out the Fixing Exposure And Brightness tutorial for more information. That should be enough to get you going. If not, check out the answer video below.
